Satho-kihe Fêqê (/ˈsaθo/ /ˈkihe/ [civilized] [field; pasture; prairie]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Têqayëg̈ê Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Satho-kihe Fêqê is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Satho-kihe Fêqê was founded by Mocthêd Glënm, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 30°C (86°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 21°C (69°F). Satho-kihe Fêqê receives an average of 240 cm/y (94 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Satho-kihe Fêqê covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1696 m (5564 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Satho-kihe Fêqê was founded durring the early 17th century in early summer of the year 1604, by Mocthêd Glënm. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Mocthêd Glënm.

Satho-kihe Fêqê was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the early 17th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Satho-kihe Fêqê is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Satho-kihe Fêqê is buildings are arranged arrounded a highly ordered system of restrictive cobblestone streets which form triangular paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. Astonishigly, the would-be-castle fortifications are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

A look around Satho-kihe Fêqê gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring jsut long enough for it to be uncomfortable.

Civic Infrastructure

Satho-kihe Fêqê has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Satho-kihe Fêqê. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Satho-kihe Fêqê's parks.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Satho-kihe Fêqê.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Satho-kihe Fêqê's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Satho-kihe Fêqê possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. Satho-kihe Fêqê's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Satho-kihe Fêqê's natural decorations nor waterways.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Satho-kihe Fêqê has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Satho-kihe Fêqê's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by towering round arches, massive stone and brickwork, small windows, thick walls, and a propensity for housing art and sculpture depicting mythological scenes. The building's general shape would be a clever and ascetic combination of geometric shapes, which would be blended together by joining elements. The style's decorative features were largely internal rather than external and incorporated semicircular arches for windows, doors, and arcades; barrel or groin vaults to support the roof of the nave; massive piers and walls, with few windows, to contain the outward thrust of the vaults; side aisles with galleries above them..

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Satho-kihe Fêqê.

The Dlurgraven near Satho-kihe Fêqê are known to be quite timid.

Satho-kihe Fêqê's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves ritual combat to channel Mysticism energies of tier 2 via recitation of poetic epics.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century after an anomalously snowy winter, runoff from snow-melt caused Tarn Chandra to overflow its banks and spill into Waterway Pentois. The resulting flood was isolated to the area around Satho-kihe Fêqê, which was swallowed by the waters for several days. Satho-kihe Fêqê lost 159 people, 320 livestock, and 25 buildings in the disaster. The disaster is remembered as the Suffering Drownings.
